Living the Great Commission

Make Gospel-Fluent People

Does the congregation in your church take the Great Commission seriously? According to Scripture, the gospel must be carried throughout the entire earth. Church members are already integrated in neighborhoods, work places, and campuses throughout town. As a result of this strategic deployment, they are in position to become Christ instruments to scores of people within their spheres of influence. If 1000 members take responsibility for 50 unsaved acquaintances and friends, the combined sphere of influence of that congregation will encompass 50,000 people according to Ed Silvoso [Prayer Evangelism 1977, 147] ,

Pastors must make reaching the lost multitude a priority. In doing so, the church will grow exponentially. Evangelism is key. Every ministry and program within the church should be evaluated against the Great Commission. In other words, every ministry within the church should conduct evangelism on some level; which is Jesus' heart. Does your church have an evangelism team? Are you reaching outside the walls of your church into the surrounding communities? Do you have a plan that organizes, trains, supports, and sends out a team of believers to share the gospel regularly? Click on the Alpha Discipleship link on the side menu for a course that can be implemented in your church.

  • Every church program that has the potential to make disciples should make relational discipleship a goal, according to Scripture.
  • Every ministry must exist to help people follow Jesus and be transformed.
  • Leaders must be intentional about discipleship.
